The Uninviting Invitation Letter

Suzuki Auto Tacloban will be having Mini Launching of ALL NEW ERTIGA this coming 30th of January 2019 to be held at Brgy. 78 Marasbaras Tacloban, City at 1:00 pm. With that we would like you to invite and witness the said activity. We will be having slide presentation about the Specs and features of the unit, and offer snacks, coffee, cookies etc. during the event.

We will appreciate your presence if you come.

“With that we would like you to invite…” Yung iniimbitahan pa ang mag iinvite?

“…and offer snacks, coffee, cookies etc.” Hindi na pala snack ang cookies ngayon.

Improper indent. Misplaced and missing commas. Unnecessary capitalizations.

This is the kind of thing that hits you right in the face when you get to work at Suzuki Tacloban.

This letter, bearing the Company Letterhead, was sent to partner banks and individuals as part of Suzuki Tacloban’s unveiling of the 2019 model of their ERTIGA unit. And this was the work of art of their too-proud-to-ask-for-help manager Mr. Marvin Aljun Caples.

This letter was obviously (literally) translated word for word. Seriously, does this ignoramus think that he can convey the same meaning merely by translating the whole text from one language to another? [Magpa-proofread ka, hoy!]

It’s never wrong to ask for help in writing a formal letter of invitation especially if it’s not up your alley. You are representing a prestigious company after all.

I wonder how he came to land a managerial position given his obvious incompetence in easy tasks such as creating a professionally crafted invitation letter.
